One for you flashlight guru's
Is it possible to disable the multi function on a LED torch for only one setting?
Cheers,

Re: One for you flashlight guru's
It is possible by bypassing part of the controller chip but you need an electrical engineer to do it.
Might be easier to swap out the driver board for a single mode one.
What torch are we talking about ?

Its a sunfire 140 lumen tactical jobby, bought it for my air rifle a bit back but it has no function memory thus useless for shooting, figure it might be possible to disable the functions some how.
Same as this http://i01.i.aliimg.com/photo/v0/422..._Q5_3W_LED.jpgSome of my past work here :)

Tatsumi .... your post count is now 666, Im very concerned

Assuming the head can be unscrewed, it would be easier to swap out the driver.
Do you know the minimum and maximum operating voltage ?
I could send a new driver board to you and you can have a go at swapping it out.

Re: One for you flashlight guru's
That looks like a standard P60 dropin.
It might be an idea to just replace the dropin with a more up to date LED.
These days they are cheap as chips, around a tenner .... just something to think about
Swapping out the driver is a straight forward job so long as your handy with a soldering iron.
Choice of driver will depend on what batteries you intend to use with the torch
2 x CR123
2 x rechargeable 123s
1 x 18650 or 17670
We need to match the driver to the input voltage

Re: One for you flashlight guru's
Yes. That's a std P60 drop in by the looks of it. You see the little spring in the middle, the round board it's attahced to is the circuit board TX101 is talking about. On the other side of the board are the electonics that make the driver. It's that board that you would have to unsolder, then unsolder the wires to the LED, swap in the new board and solder back the wires, board.
Edit - must type quicker, TX101 is on the case ^^^^^No paracord commissions for now please.

Re: One for you flashlight guru's
Glad you know what your talking about thanks gents. Im good with hammers and things but no electronics, i like the idea of swapping the whole led out, simple solution for me to do. By doing this could i then chose a single mode with more output? And what/ where would be a good place to look?
Thanks very much

Re: One for you flashlight guru's
I can't remember the name of the torch, but it was mentioned on here a good while ago, but there is a programmable torch which can be connected to the PC vis USB, and the modes and brightness programmed

These Rich? http://www.kmnw.co.uk/store/index.ph...roducts_id=267
"R5 XPG, single mode, 240-320lm, 3-18v - £14.99" looks about the right one, the torch takes 2 x CR123 batteries = 6v and it says 3w on the side of the torch. will be pritty chuffed if it gets over 200 lumens or there abouts. might see if my aldi special's lense will fit too, can sort of see why people start messing with these things!...Some of my past work here :)

fitted straight in with no messing and totally transformed the torch.
Anyways just a quick thanks for the advice before and well worth the 15 quid.
