Can anyone identify this knife like a model or a number or something?
Im only assuming that it is a known make, as it is old and was a gift
i have more pics if needed...

I have seen a mini trapper pattern with 'chief' stamped on the tang and an inlaid oval with a native American in a war bonnet on it.
I believe it was made in China for a USA based company.

What does it say on the blade? Chief? Anything else? Is that a wooden grip? More pics are always good.

yes it is says chief and does have a wooden grip

Even 'Stainless Steel' tells us something. It might of said 'Rostfrei' if it was say German.
I think it's probably a cheap knife made in China, but without markings I can't be sure. Many knives of that type have names such as 'Chief' or
'Cherokee' or 'Bear Claw' or something of that nature etched in to the blade. Sorry I can't be more helpful.Far from the madding crowd
