Re: bushtool mk 2 passaround
Rockwell is 58-59.
The hex is in the centre again as its the only place I can put it to give enough options on the bolts/tubes. Every comission I have had recently only one guy wanted the hex! I did think about putting it on the blade just infront of the handle but it would probably compromise the strength of the knife and look crap. The gods i worship are steel, at the altar of rock-n-roll I kneel.

Re: bushtool mk 2 passaround
Also it would mean using the bit driver with the blade exposed if it were put through the blade - something which may invite some claret to be spilt rather too readily.

Re: bushtool mk 2 passaround
I'm picking this up from the sorting office tomorrow as I wasn't in when the posty tried to deliver it. Is it ok to keep it over the weekend so I can have a look/play on Sunday, and then I'll send it on early next week?

No problem. I think the next recipient is Jon D and I am not sure if he gone away.

Re: bushtool mk 2 passaround
I picked the knife up from the sorting office today.
First impression? Heavier than I expected, but in a good solid feeling kind of way.
Second impression? Sharp, and nice polished bevels.
I was going to take it out to the woods for a play this weekend, but as I have neither the skill or the kit to maintain that polished edge, I've changed my mind.
I'll try and post some more thoughts on it when I'm on the computer and not on my phone.
Bottom line is I like it, and I would consider spending my own money on one.

Re: bushtool mk 2 passaround
Use it Ant, don't worry about the shiny bevels, a good stroping will bring it back.

Re: bushtool mk 2 passaround
Yup - well worth a good workout with it.
After cutting through over 7 metres of cardboard, all it needed was literally two or three passes each side on the strop, and the hair was jumping right out of the way again.
Woody stuff after a few hours' use needed a little longer, but really not much. Just stropping again. If at first you don't succeed: reload

Re: bushtool mk 2 passaround
The Bushtool is now back with me and looking like its been used! surprisingly still shaving sharp, as promised I am offering this knife in a compertition, problem is I cant think of what to do for a comp!
I will give it some thought tomorrow then start a new thread, I would like it to go to someone who hasn't got loads of cash to chuck around on toys, hope that dose not put anyones nose out of joint! The gods i worship are steel, at the altar of rock-n-roll I kneel.
