Folding Firebox Passaround
Hi guys,
A while ago I bought a prototype folding stove on Ebay and fell in love with it, construction was bullet proof, it folded down to a decent size and did everything i wanted a small woodburning cooker to do. It pretty much lives in my cookbag and gets taken out and about everytime i go camping, shooting, fishing etc, great for making tea and cooking small meals on.
The company that make it are called Firebox Industries http://foldingfirebox.com
Anyway, i liked it so much i got in touch with the designer/owner (Ben Probst) and offered some pointers on how he could market it going forward, some design improvement suggestions and other ideas that he could use in the future including a bunch of suggested retailers. Turns out he is a really nice guy and as a thanks sent me a second stove in the post for my ideas (which was passed on to a friend of mine who also uses it all the time and loves it).
Anyway, after a fair amount of dialogue and suggestions over a few months I mentioned that we over at BB run passarounds and possible group buys (currently they have no UK distribution at all so are limited to US sales or ebay jobbies) and that i would be happy to run a passaround for him. Ben kindly offered to send me a brand new stove for a passaround in the hope that they get usable feedback for future development or a bunch of us saying WANT ONE OF THOSE and either arranging a GB or at least speaking to a UK retailer and saying that there are people out there that want the product!
Im in no way affiliated with these guys i just like the product and have had a decent amount of conversations as there are tweaks that i would like made in future versions and I have found that they are willing to listen to constructive criticism (fantastic from a punter point of view)
The stove looks like this:

And folds flat like this:

They have a few Youtube vids up on their channel too:
Passaround rules:
Member must be a subscribing member (VIP, Maker, Trader) or have more than 200 posts or have someone to vouch for them.
Max 15 people
Max 2 weeks per person
RMSD to be used.
Providing Ben is ok with it at the end of the passaround the person who has written the most indepth review / feedback (Ben will choose) will be gifted the stove.
It would be great if someone who is going to Bardsters could take it along so everyone attending can have a go.
Usual stuff, please copy and paste the list into the latest post, its a PITA to keep an eye on things otherwise

I'd like a go if that's OK. Will be going to Bardsters too if you want to time my turn to coincide.
Many thanks,
Trevor. And remember - the first thing that always goes is the plan.

15.Don't listen to people who say "You can't take it with you when you die."
They're just trying to get their greasy mitts on your cool stuff.

Re: Folding Firebox Passaround
Looking forward to this review as i have looked at this stove before. It does seem very heavy which is what put me off a bit, that and the shipping costs. Be interested to see if you guys thinks it's worth it
Wish I had 200 posts now, never bothered me before

Re: Folding Firebox Passaround
It's a pity I could of tested it on the hills of Brecon, but not sure if I'll be attending due to becoming a single dad, but I will let you know....
They look the business, better than the old hexi-block stoves.definately portable in full belt kit.
The old saying "Squaddie proof" will definately be tested.
Take care,
Bri
