leather sheath for torch
I was commisioned by one of out great members to make him a leather torch holder, now he wanted this bezel down, and to accomadate a 2 inch belt, so of to the drawing board, he wanted this in black and to have black stitching, he wanted this to be nice and robust as te last one he bought the belt loop came apart, so i made the torch holder out of 4 mill premium veg tan, and put an extra couple of rivvetts in so that this sort of thing would not happen again, i put a shelf in the bottem, so that the rain could run out the bottem, as this will be in all weathers.
i hope you like it.

Re: leather sheath for torch
Looks like a nice bit of work, if it was me I would probably have wanted it a bit deeper, but I guess that's up to the customer at the end of the day.

Compared to some of your recent work, this is rather plain. Still with the quality and thought we expect now and definitely rugged!
Like the shelf idea. Did you stitch this in flat and then form it, or form it first?

Re: leather sheath for torch
Hi Mr Moose,
I thought the same on initial looking, but after talking to Lee, he reassured me that the grip on the torch was as tight as heck.
However, I was a little concerned that I might knock it whilst running, or "cough" scuffling "cough"
Lee offered to send it to me for approval, and return to him if I wasn't happy, he then fitted a strap which will more than sort out any reservations.
He is a great chap to deal with
I'll post a review as soon as I get my hands on it
Take Care

Re: leather sheath for torch
Hi Gav,
Yep, plain indeed, but Lee followed the brief to the letter.
I need this for a really specific role, it needs to be black to match everything else, and not stand out too much ( thank God I like black eh!).
The rugged construction is vital, I managed to tear the belt loop clean off of the sheath that came with the torch, by catching it on a car seat.
Because of what I need this for, the rugged constructioin will allow me to concentrate on the job in hand, and not worry that my kit is likely to go south, it gets expensive replacing kit!
Take Care

Re: leather sheath for torch
It's no real secret Alan, I've joined the "specials".
Just put the "cough" in, 'cos we don't like to talk rough stuff on here do we?
Hopefully there won't be too many scuffles, but there could be some running, and standing about in all weathers, hence rugged kit kinda handy.
Take care
Graham
