Re: An association for British knife makers...?
That's pageviews, we get about 7,000 to 8,000 uniques a day according to GA. That's a much more realistic number. GA does a good job of filtering out all the random internet noise and reduces the figure down to real individual people. But you are right, it is very heavy on the server, it's still nearly 1/4 million a month and then you have to consider how long each person stays and how they use the site. Many have multiple windows open at once, PM'ing, refreshing the ads and reading threads. BB's server usage and bandwidth requirements are extremely heavy.
Excellent, I should have known Tom, you've been bang on the ball with everything else. GA is the main one that everybody uses, though the numbers are always a lot lower than raw access logs, the figures are much more meaningful. The KMA website is fully linked to google analytics :-).

Re: An association for British knife makers...?
just out of interest, the "make knives" part of this, are you talking the whole thing ie take lump of metal, make blade handle and sheath, or would buying a premade blade and putting a handle on it count?
and as it has a uk theme, would the blade need to be sourced from a uk maker? the 4 rubbish attempts that i've put together so far all have Scandinavian made blades, so would that exempt me as a maker?
in all reality i'd probably join as a supporter, i was just interested for clarity's sake.
a lovely site by the way

Re: An association for British knife makers...?
We would welcome you as a supporter, you can always move to being a maker as your situation changes.
Knifemaking means different things to different people in different cultures so as long as you are transparent about your role in the process, there is no need to worry about making knives from bought blades or sole authorship or where the parts may come from originally. If you consider yourself a knife maker then join as a maker...post a picture and explain about where you see yourself on your knife making journey!High Priestess of the Small and Foldy...
