    Searles Project.

    Second blade done. Had to make another piece of damascus as the first blade cracked clean in half during hardening. I opted for a cross hatch edge pattern which i think came out well.

    Thanks for sharing the WIP Stu. The Knives look great, as does the sheaths.

    Yeah, I wanted to make some big ass damascus bowies. Blades alone are 300mm long. Sold real quick to a pair of collectors in Petermaritzburg

    - simply, wondered if they were named after someone............just looked it up - Daniel Searles - I never knew that.

    Superb knives and WIP pics,have got a real itch to acquire an authentic Bowie style knife and this has made me scatch even more,thanks for posting.

    Your knives are beautiful.
    Big fan here of the Searles Bowies. Thought about having a Bowie made in this style, but went with another design in the end. Maybe next time.
    What is the function of the half moon shaped cut-out between the blade and handguard, is it just decorative or does it serve a purpose besides that?
