    Victorinox solo. Legal edc?

My Dad wanted an EDC for his work bag. Specifically an SAK style due to it being a nice safe, non-aggressive looking knife that wouldn't scare off customers.
Would be for light use only. Box opening, plastic packets etc.

Was going to buy him the Victorinox solo.
Just looked on heinnie and it's showing a blade length of 3 and a quart inches. So it's not a legal carry then?

    http://www.heinnie.com/-UK-Legal-Car...-641-857-6291/

I'm sure it would simply be an issue of 'would he ever get stopped?', but he wouldn't carry it if it wasn't a legal carry. So it would be a waste of a gift.

Would it be worth grinding 1/4 inch off?

Still legal, cos the cutting edge is 3" or less...........you'll be fine.

'cutting edge' is the rule, not o/a blade length

Just go for a spartan or something similar.... They have the 3 inch blade...

As Chui says it is 100% legal

However, you still may get a policeman querying this if they don't understand the legislation.

As Chui said, it's the cutting edge that needs to be 3" or less and the Solo's I have all are. They are also surprisingly stout blades and generally very functional. You can always pop the nylon scales off and rehandle with something else too if you fancy

    Cheers, Paul

    Get him an Alox Solo
    Legal EDC no worries
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

I got one of these in the secret santa 2 or 3 years ago, it is an awesome NKP friendly knife, and it doesn't have any sharp corners that ruin the pocket lining

Cant find a blade length for the ALOX solo.
Needs to be 2.5inches plus for a specific job. Thats why the larger solo would be perfect.

    Thanks for replies.
I guess thats the same reason my Boker plus XS came up over 3inches when I measured it. the cutting edge is 2.5.

Great work knife, and legal EDC...just :-) I've made one of mine an easy-opener which works well.

Blade is 72mm on the alox, of wich about a cm isn't cuttingedge.

Yes, I'll add to the round of applause. That larger, nylon handled Solo is great, legal edc. The Alox one is too

Cracking knives and great value. I'd suggest you buying both the red nylon solo plus the alox version - you won't regret it !!

Just wondering... did you do this by hand with a rasp and then sand it?
Looks good. I'll be doing this to mine when I get one.
