2.5-3mm 12c27 stock, where to buy

The have 4mm thick bar in stock. It's a tricky steel to get in other dimensions over here, but it's an easy steel to thin down and work in general.

Your other option is Uddeholm AEB-L from Brisa, which is near identical in makeup and of the same high quality.

Cheers Chris I use Richard for my 4mm stock and there is potential for 3.5mm but anything else just turns up dead ends even with big steel suppliers which just reinforces my appreciation for Richards services.
Frustrated to say the least with what is available in the uk.

What's the AEB-L like as a stainless grade? The project its self is a gut hook and a folder blade, even 440c would do it but again I've not managed to find a source for that either.

AEB-L is like 12C27 but with a teeny bit more cabon, it's chemically identical to 13C26.
It's so similar to 12C27...

Richard could get you 3.2 (maybe 3.5) RWL-34, which is descended from 440C... I dare say you can get 440C here, but it's not cheap from what i have looked into in the past. RWL ain't to pricey for what it is...

I haven't bought any from Richard yet, but he has spent considerable time helping me find the stuff I want. He has quoted me for 2.5mm 12c27 and says if I want it, he will get 3 sheets in and I'll only need 1. I am however thinking about 2mm, so maybe this won't be any use to you, but I can highly recommend giving him a call. He can also arrange vacuum heat treating and laser/water cutting if needs be.
