Make someone's day the MTG way

This is a direct result of a little comp I had to design this comp - http://www.britishblades.com/forums/...=1#post1933090 Which was won by MeetTheGeeks. His entry led to this idea for a comp:

You come up with an idea of how to make a person's day/week and post it here - any person and anything, from sending flowers, to just being there for them, to shoveling snow, to giving up your seat on the underground - anything. The previous winner, in this case MeetTheGeeks, has to put up a small prize - anything, from a keyring to a bar of chocolate to an old knife - just a token - and he has to choose the new winner for the week, who in turn has to put up a little prize and choose the new winner. The idea is that it will give all of us an idea of how to make someone's day that week and so spread a little happiness.

I realize I may have put MeetTheGeeks on the spot here with having to unexpectedly sponsor a prize, so if there is no objection I will sponsor the first prize that he can allocate to the new winner: the small Ulu in carbon steel, with African Black Chacate scales, as in the Ulu GB thread elsewhere on this forum (like the one with the green bone scales). Please note that this should not set a precedent - future prizes can be a LOT smaller - just a token - bear in mind I am going to be making a bunch of them so making one extra is not that expensive and I'd like to get this going nicely.

Good folks of the parish.. if you can post your good deeds or nice things in this thread I'll keep an eye on them to pick a winner of a great prize! Do something nice for some one, even if its some one you dont know. Great idea for a thread!

    Quiet in here isn't it?
OK, I'll start a flood of suggestions with:
Write/email/phone the employer of the person who served you in a shop/waited on your table/did your vaccination/whatever & tell them how good they were.
This is about saying thanks for a job done "well, but as I'd have expected", not to be reserved for exceptional efforts. What's better than someone telling you that you're good at your job & that people recognise that & are sufficiently motivated to comment on it?

gave an old bloke a packet of fag's, didn't mean to give them him,he was grubbing around for dimps in the ash trays outside the supermarket, offered him the packet to take one, stuck the entire packet in his pocket and p***ed off, wasn't going to wrestle a tramp for a packet of fags,so I suppose that was a good deed

I have slowed down the number of comps I do (still do blobby comps) ,now I prefer to send spare items (little blades etc ) to people who seem to be having a bit of a difficult time (or just make me laugh) I also drop a bit of manknitting into the parcel when I send off a knife to a customer

Re: Make someone's day the MTG way

Gone into town to do some shopping and put the car in a large car park,as i walked by a lady standing by her car in tears 2 kids in the back not happy either, asked her what was wrong, replied car won't start, turned out to be a flat battery, moved my car and jumped started her car, lady said thank you very much and drove off, parked my car and did my shopping, retured to the carpark and went to the kiosk where the miserable old git that takes your ticket and your money 'with a grunt on a good day',he took my ticket and said no charge, you have made my day, i saw you on camera help that family after dozens of people had walked by and ignored her.
I have told this not because of the lady with the car, anyone would have done the same it was the old boy boiling his head all day in that kiosk,
It turned out ok because i went back a week later and he was back to his miserable self which made me chuckle.

    Made two peoples day then!

I had a lady come into work today young, very pretty and looking a bit down. Told her her hair looked stunning with the purple and blue highlights and it turned out she had just had it done and her other half was not happy about it. I told her to keep it ditch him and Im free tomorrow.. made her smile and when she got back in the car she pointed and he looked well peeved.. I made the 'call me' gesture and she laughed more and he got grumpy...

I had to staple some charred flaps of skin over an Iraqi kids forearm once. Little bleeder had picked up a hand grenade that'd been planted in his playground/school yard by some asswipe from another tribe and it had been set to det instantly, so when he threw it, orf with his arm. Never heard how he fared after the Iraqistani dust cart/ambulance took him away, but i like to think he was happy we were there for him in his hour of need.

Thank you guys - I really like some of the stuff coming out here.

A slight change to the rules if called for I think: Initially the idea was to post something that other people could do to make another person's day and the best idea wins, but let's include thing you have already done too - like in many of the postings here. They also give us ideas, after all.

Tell your significant other how much they mean to you.

Then show them and prove it.
