Re: R. Scheppmann Knives 6" Bowie vs. Grizzly Bear *GRAPHIC*

No maybe not the point that would have been the knife maker posting a thread containing pics of said 'knife' being used for what it was originally designed for, and doing a v good job.
The thread then got taken over by which is an ethical issue for some , however as for those whom have said "is this not done yet" the last few posts have been aimed at taking away the argument yet discussing related points obviously everyone has their own pov on such topics but i do feel for the op that his work has been overshadowed by those pov.
However rather than leave it as a controversial issue people imo are trying to continue it in a more positive light as chui said the documentary is great if you hadn't seen it then the link (sort of) has given those whom weren't aware of it a chance to watch a great programme

Re: R. Scheppmann Knives 6" Bowie vs. Grizzly Bear *GRAPHIC*

Thank you all for the comments... I initiated this thread to show one of my knives being used, that is all. I tried to give fair warning in the title that these pictures were graphic, and the photos were hidden so that you would have to click a second time to actually see them. I am a knifemaker. It is not my job to police how my customers will use their knives. I do like to know how my products perform, so that I can further learn from customer feedback. I appreciate all comments, and it was not my intention to sensationalize the content or spark debate, it was simply to show a knife being used. Thank you.

For what it is worth, the customer did skin the bear on his own, the guides did not help with that other than to offer their blade when they thought that his would be dull. The only difference in the pics is that his sleeves are rolled up, and he is wearing waders.

So why publish the pics of the hunter posing with his kill and then the skin and skull. At which point were you showing the knife at work. I guess the other forum you posted the pics on are used to butchery. As for hunting food I believe if you have no alternative that's fair. If you eat all you kill that's fair. But this was totally about hunting a bear for ego. No gain what so ever. Your pics are disgusting. The word graphic says nothing about the horrific content. And yes without doubt a dead hunter killed by a bear would give me huge satisfaction. As for running from a female bear with cubs. If you had an ounce of bush craft skill you would know just how stupid that would be. But of course then I could look at the pics of a stupid hunter who got that close and gloat. So my final word on this is simple. Trophy hunting is wrong.

    - not going to say that you're speaking right or wrong, stonehard.

Fact is, whether we approve or disapprove, the pics are there............we've had a good debate, and we'll have to agree, that some of us will agree to disagree.

He made the man a knife.

    A knife for skinning animals.

His client killed and skinned an animal. He showed us that his knife does what it's meant to do. Skin animals.

That's it really - his knife does what it's meant to. Skin animals.

Knives are actually for cutting stuff beyond string and cardboard and he showed us that his worked for the purpose it was intended.

I suppose we should be glad that Fairbairn and Sykes don't post here though.
