There is a place near me called Loch Doon. Not really central but they allow free camping (no caravans or motor homes though) and free fishing fot trout and perch. Fires are allowed as long as they are controlled. Its about 15 miles SE of Ayr.

Yeah it was a rule that was passed a couple of years back at loch doon. To be honest I dont think its fair that motorhomes aren't allowed. The reason for banning caravans was the fact that people were buying a cheap van for a couple of hundred quid, leaving it up there all season and the just abandoning it when the season was finished. Obviously this isnt the case with motorhomes. However, the ranger is a very good friend of mine so I'll have a word with him today and find out what the score is

Anytime suits me, however one word of warning....Give it a few more weeks and the dreaded midge will be out in full force!!!!! And down here they wear tackety boots and carry baseball bats
