How I organise my drill bits.
A simple one that may help someone.
I used to really struggle with keeping my drill bits in any sort of order. A lot of people seem to have blocks with holes they live in or drill cases they clip into.
The idea, and practicality, of clipping or slotting them back into a specific place never worked for me and when I started getting extra odd bits, there was no where for them to live.
A while back I settled on using drawers. Sounds simple really but it's made my life a lot easier!

Every drill bit type of each size goes in the same drawer - it's easy enough to identify each type.

Hopefully this might give someone a little hand in getting organised.
Any other ideas out there? (Not that I'm intending to change what I do.

Re: How I organise my drill bits.
all over the bench, in tupperware boxes, some draws, some by the mill, some in the tray for the colchester, some by the drill, etc etc.... We have so bloody many, imperial and metric, it's far too daunting trying to organise them!

Re: How I organise my drill bits.
I use a std drill set box ( 1-10mm in 0.5mm ) next to the piller drills
and have an axminster 10 off set for new ones

the Brad point bits for Kydex are in a drilled block
other handy non std bits etc are in a tub
some Counter bore bits etc are kept with the screws they are used withLast edited by FGYT; 04-06-12 at 03:47 PM.

Re: How I organise my drill bits.
I have drill boxes with the spare unused drills In a bench draw, then 3 or 4 small button magnets on the side of the drill press with the drills I use, just stuck on the magnets at least 3 drills to each magnet

Re: How I organise my drill bits.
Stu, Have a look at this. http://uk.ask.com/wiki/Drill_bit_sizes I remember when I was an apprentice I had to drill number 76 (20thou) holes with an air drill for the fuel injection sytem we were modifying, I was told that being the youngest I had steady hands and more feel. I can tell youI broke loads of them!!
