    56" bi-metal bandsaw blades

    Hi,

i'm trying to find a source for the above and wondered if anyone has some recomendations. I bought a Clarke CBS190 bandsaw a while back, great so far but the stock blade is only 6tpi and i'm wanting a 18tpi or there abouts for cutting some Micarta slabs up and thin steel (up to 5mm annealed O1 and 12c27).

one place so far has come up that looks interesting but i'm a little unsure about which one to get, http://www.justbandsawblades.co.uk/c...-1422mm/1.html

    any advice very welcome

    Re: 56" bi-metal bandsaw blades

The site you mention sells Starrett and Morse blades. I've used both makes quite a lot, on big industrial bandsaws, and always found them to be very good quality. That's not to say that the other makes they sell aren't just as good, it's just that I have no personal experience of them.

As long as you stay away from the really cheap and nasty Far Eastern tat you'll probably be OK. Silverline is always a good name to avoid.
Price is a pretty good indicator. Quality costs, and if it's looks like a bargain then it probably isn't.

The small saw I have in my home shop gets a lot of use and I find it much more economical to make my own blades up from bulk stock. Or to buy good quality wrong-sized blades cheap off Ebay and cut them to suit.

    Here's how it's done...

    Hope that's some help.

Thanks very much one_rod, I'll stay clear of the poor ones and stick with starrett brand. I've heard the weld can make a mess of your cut on poor blades if not done right.

    Thanks again,
