Prototype Spyderco EDC legal
Version two of the Spyderco DK targeted at Denmark for legal carry there.
The very strict knife law means that most knives do not get the green light for legal carry there.
EDC has to be: Blade length (not edge) 7cm, THO, no lock.
Great, that Spyderco bothers with such a small market, but others may of course buy it too
Ansø and I belive Vox(næs) both had a hand in the design.
Knife to be made by Fox, Italy.
Handle in FRN and texture like the Squeak
Steel is N690Co.
Blade is 3mm thick

Re: Prototype Spyderco EDC legal
I'll buy one!
That looks completely non-threatening to NKP, has a useful looking bladeshape and a nice looking handle too.
Well done to Sal and the team for catering to another market where knife carry laws are even stricter than ours
Any idea when they're coming out?

Re: Prototype Spyderco EDC legal
Bladescout, I'm sure its actual blade length and not cutting edge, the legal length is determined on stab length and not cutting edge.

Re: Prototype Spyderco EDC legal
Doh! Ive only posted those nutty DK specs about a thousand times here (at least!! :-))
Got the two ass backwards. Good observation, Joel - but then you of all people would know
Thanks - not least for being so diplomatic about it, when you could have done a Nelson

Re: Prototype Spyderco EDC legal
Oh that is really very nice, never warmed to the squeak but that is definitely my kind of thing... Now we just need one with a big hole for the UK market

Re: Prototype Spyderco EDC legal
Unusual handle shape for spyderco isn't it? I like the blade shape though. I can really see the Anso and Vox influence in that (e.g. rock lobster, Gnome, Rhino). It looks like a folding version of the Boker Rhino to me.. What's that bit above the spyderhole though?
Doesn't look very comfy as jimping.

Not my usual sort of thing but I like that a lot.

Re: Prototype Spyderco EDC legal
I rather like it, well the blade shape anyway but given the overall length that handle is digging a blister in my palm looking at it.
Why not do away with the black scales and go with something like the much ridiculed KIWI stag, to be honest I'm amazed that two very respected danes have input on this and still managed to come up with something ever so slightly aggressive looking,If spyderco want a legal DK carry lets have one suited with nature and not another 'unpractical tactical' incarnation of everything else out there, it cant be that difficultsent from my LAPTOP using 1 finger and 12 bottles of BLÅ THOR

Yes, I see some COX likeness, but then thats hardly strange, when thinking of the designer(s), as you say.
Those two knurled bits would not be long for this world. A couple of minutes with a Dremel and you could have nice jimping instead, if you dont care about the current config.

Re: Prototype Spyderco EDC legal
You raise some good points, Joel.
Why the Kiwi much ridiculed?
Im not disputing it, I just never neither handled it nor heard much talk about it.
Kiwi handle looks great to my eyes. Excellent grip for a small knife. Plenty of tapered end to rest all fingers on.
Having just given my Izula a workout, I know from painful experience, how important that is.
I really like the Izula a lot, but it suddenly dawned on me, why Esee came up with the Izula II, when working with the original. The Izula looks great, but no doubt the II offers a better handle.
