Re: Prototype Spyderco EDC legal
The Chaparral looks good IMO. That blade shape would be great.
Agreed, no large handle needed. I detest a small blade in a beefy oversized handle. Thin short (tan
) scales for a small blade. Compact. The kind of knife you'd want to EDC.
Choil, definitely choil. The arrangement on the Chaparral looks good.
As for pinching the blade to open and no large Spyderco hole nor nail nick - you could make it a Spyderco folder first:
Brut de Forge finish on the top half/third of the blade in order to have a rough secure finish to grab hold of in lieu of nail nick or Spyderco hole. Especially as you have to work against the strong spring.
The rough Brut de Forge finish brings up the mental picture of the (rusted) excavated viking swords and also the finish which might have been on knives and swords from that period.
Here a rather worse for wear (read rusted) sword from the 9.th Century found in Hedeby, Denmark

Hedeby Museum

Viking knife

Alternative name; VikingSPY………! LOL
Vikings are of course big in Denmark.
Allow me to illustrate; here a few pics which I snapped just last weekend at a rather large viking meet here in Denmark

WOW
Great tour. That would have been fun to attend. As a knife guy, the early Viking swords have always impressed me, and as a sailor, the amazing early Viking ships, capable of planing 1,000 years ago. Some heritage to be proud of.

Spyderco Viking would be a eppic name
i like the idea of tan handels, again, kinda soft for the eyes, like gray
Edit: and btw tan is not socialy considered a militar color in denmark, our army and people like thar only wears dark green.. We have quite alot of forest covering alot of denmark.. No desert
But ofc i could be wrongLast edited by thekapow; 08-08-12 at 12:54 AM.

Re: Prototype Spyderco EDC legal
Can anyone name that square handle style prototype that is assisted in design by a Dane or something.. Doesn't look like any other spydies yet.. Someone had a link to YouTube but I can't find it.
