Simply to lock it closed do it can't open in your pocket I'm guessing they don't like buttons.

Sorry mate, I understand the why (safe in the pocket) I meant how it actually works to unlock. I actually think the best style would be like the Spyderco meerkat phantom lock!!

No difference legally between either of these, both are bladed articles, neither are "sharply pointed". You have to seriously "backchat/annoy" a police officer to have any problem with either or the belt hook. They have the same llegal status as this

Police are generally more interested in things you can stab with.

the CKRT has a blade yes but its impossible to get a part of a body on it the Boker has a blade edge that can be used to cut some one
its a personnal call and will be down to the copper if they ever pull you over and find it

on another note I dont like a folding rescue tool its another thing to go wrong or be difficult to do in an emergency up side down covered in blood crushed hand situation maybe in the passenger Glove box or in teh back now after a roll and its come out of the center console


THe SAK is ok it has an exemption in S139 its a folding pocket knife non locking even with out he silly rounded end

Folding scissors are Apperently ok legal ( as Danzo pointed out to me a while back)
and screwdrivers are ok to Ref earlier post

Most definately not to argue but out of sheer panic!:

I'm a gardener & have a bucket of garden tools; pruning saw, hand rakes, tomahawk, golock, felco no8's, slat saver, etc (there's other stuff but I've picked the 'sharp' ones), based on the fact that when I get to a job, I MAY be asked to do some pruning, shrub removal, etc. But, they MAY just want the lawn mowed, which often happens.

I stick the bucket in the back of the car knowing that all I need is there, should I need it. A gardeners tool box, if you get my drift.

Am I on sticky ground? Should I be confirming with each customer EXACTLY what they want me to do before I leave home, & only taking the specific tools. Then of course having to come home on the occasion that they change their mind?

No that would be fine you are a gardener going to garden and so its reasonable that the sharps you carry are for your work and you are going to do that work

If you go home leave the tools in your car then pop to the shops in the car your now in trouble as you have no reason to have the Sharps then and could have left them at home you are as gardener but you are no longer going to garden and carry out your job.

unfortunately a Copper in this political climate if hes going to take any notice at all (depends if the Chief constable is breathing down his neck from media and political pressure) is more likely to take some one in over a 1" bladed locking knife than some one with a bucket in the boot with a bill hook and an axe .

2, A little inconvienient but understandable & common sence. I rarely leave tools in the van.
