Picture fine my end. But rather small - any chance of some close-ups of the carving on the sheath?

Ahh, it's a Bushcraft UK link, hence why some can see it and others can't. Upload to photobucket or flickr or some other image hosting site paddytray, rather than using a secondary link.

Looks like the same blade shape as some piha kaetta (Sri Lanka / Ceylon) i have seen. The sheath looks a little basic though as they are often quite intricate?

the handle had the same twinned grass like decoration and also engraved . it was very dark wood but age the woodland growing over it had turnt the wood brittle . it got smashed in a house move . I think it had a mans face carved into the handle but this was when i was a child and a only just remember.

Interesting, symbols look a bit like sanskrit.
Looks like it was edge quenched.
