    beat up 2nd hand knifes

atm im still trying to pay longstrider (legend thank mate) for some work he has done on my golok and then im planning to put some nice scales on it, know I dont want to go smashing up plant life with this machete (was a pieace/lump of steel from sheffield) as it going to be for show. Ive bought cheap knives before for using and abusing and some have been ok but the most have give up, if anyone has got any solid but beat up and used good blades can you let me know, as I wont mind using these in the field knowing there already scratched ect. e.g. im planning on getting an lmf 2.......will it see action, maybe in a couple of years when my daughter and son are old enough to come camping but even then it would probs be 2nd to a machete or smaller full fine edged blade (dam I wish they made it all fine edge)

I think its very important to have knives that you can actually use but more importantly abuse that will hold up.

You should just buy a Gerber big rock straight edge, their on amazon for under $30, with free shipping. This is an I n c r e d I b l e deal.. Lifetime warranty too.

Yeah when i get my golok sorted i might use it for camping as i know its got a profile on it now that no othes straight from the factory blades will have, i wouldnt mind a cheap beat up lmf 2 as i would put it through more than a brand new looking one

I own the LMF 2, and I own the Gerber BG model.

For what it's worth, you can get the Gerber BG model for $40.. LMF 2 runs around $70.

They are very similar in both performance, design, and size. I know people rip on BG, but his knife.. is a pretty fine deal. From the tests I've done personally, it holds up fairly evenly with the LMF 2. The Pommel on the BG version is way better than the LMF as well.
