An old G wagen and a Leicaflex, very cool! I wonder how much he spent on fuel?Jason

Re: Mercedes G Wagen...Can't be that bad!!
I have had a few mercs an 190e cosworth s300 and a 230te the w124 is regarded as the best engine ever built.
This is quite common to find a merc between 1989 and 1994 that has this sort of mileage on the block.
A Very experienced mechanic once told me in his opinion a w124 wasn't broken in until 150k minimum if serviced properly brilliant ultra reliable cars check out vicky butler henderson testing a second hand one on fifth gear probably on youtube somewhere it really is crazy.

If I had the cash to buy a decent old G Wagen and run it Id love one! The Germans just manage to make a lot of stuff very well.

Amazing.....inspiring.....humbling. After sharing all those experiences with somebody the fact that he continued after his wife died is incredible.
How many other 80's 4x4s would have been THAT reliable? Land Rover Defenders/Range Rovers? - dunno. Land Cruisers? - maybe.Ask the question and you are a fool for five minutes......don't ask the question and you are a fool for life.

Thats amazing. Love hearing about these stories that aren't 'mainstream' documented. Never realised the G wagon was such a good 4x4 always associated it with hip hop stars music videos lol

Re: Mercedes G Wagen...Can't be that bad!!
My garage chap said to me that there are very few unreliable cars today....It's the way you drive them.
I noticed that this German chap says he drives like an "old woman"...as do I
I think that is a large part of his cars reliability.Far from the madding crowd
