1st pattern fs fighting knife.
Hi today while pulling the floor up in an old house i have found a fs fighting knife in its leather holder.
I found this site and identified the knife by searching the web and it is defiantly 1st patten and in very good condition.
I have no real interest in the knife so will be seeking to move it on.
can anyone give me any idea of its value and the best place to sell it.
Thanks in advance

Re: 1st pattern fs fighting knife.
I had a FS a few years ago. Had it valued by an expert that said that it could bring up 100 euros. Finally sold it to a collector that was very happy with it for 130 euros.

Re: 1st pattern fs fighting knife.
Great find.
FS knives can make good money. Many different types and makers. All makes a difference to potential value. People here will be able to help ID and value. All they will need is good clear photos. Overall, handle, end nut, cross guard, sheath and any markings. ( on blade, cross guard and sometimes on top of handle )
look forward to seeing it and welcome to BB.PARTING THE CLOUDS SEEKING THE WAY

Re: 1st pattern fs fighting knife.
The knife has no numbers anywhere on it.
there is some slight making on the tip of the blade which i think would polish off with little effort but i do not want to attempt it
as i do not know what i am doing.
The knife is as i found it.

I am no expert on FS knives but it does look good. Have you thought of pulling up the rest of the floor?

Re: 1st pattern fs fighting knife.
I'm just going say what I think but it comes from a cycnical and suspicious perspective, so forgive me but I'm going to play devils advocate here.
If it was found under the floor of an old house that sheath is in remarkable good nick. no signs of damp or mould or drying out or dust at all. The brass isn't even tarnished.
The knife looks pretty genuine though but the sheath looks to good to be true with a knife of that age.
Obviously I'm no expert but it just doesn't look like the ones I've seen kicking round the fairs.
I will be happy to be proved wrong and it's the best find since the last great find but there are so many wrong military collectables about it's always worth going in with your eyes open if you intend to spend good money on something like this.
