Re-importing and Customs fees?
Evenin'
I've sent a Dozier back for a refurb and it's ready to come back to me from Bob's shop. Now, when I bought it a few years ago I paid the import duties etc when it passed through customs. When it comes back into the country, is there something I can request the folks at Dozier put on the label that will minimise the risk of getting another set of fees slapped on it?

They'll mark it as repaired. I've had a couple of Bark Rivers go back and didn't have to pay again.
Might be worth reminding them.Frank Mclaury: You're next on my list, Holliday. You better get used to seeing my face, 'cause it's the last thing you're gonna see.
Doc Holliday: McLaury, seeing your face would be a pleasant change. I understand most of your enemies got it in the back.

Re: Re-importing and Customs fees?
There was a thread some time ago about someone with a similar issue, there's a special form or number that should follow the box IIRC.
Das Obengenannte ist nicht spülmaschinenfest.

Re: Re-importing and Customs fees?
Cheers Guys - I'll ask them to be sure to mark it as such. In technicolor.

Re: Re-importing and Customs fees?
Here's what I got from HMRC when I asked about reimport of one of mine after warranty repair
Further to your E-mail enquiry received on 13 March 2012.
*
You should ensure that the goods are imported under an "Outward Processing Relief non-commercial authorisation". This should enable you to claim relief from import charges.
*
When you are notified that the goods have arrived at the parcel depot in the UK you should contact UKBA* (United Kingdom Border Agency) and advise them that you wish to declare the goods under the "OPR arrangements". You should note that you will need evidence of export in order to claim this relief.
*
More detailed information on the above can be obtained from our Public Notice No.235 "Outward Processing Relief" and specifically section 7.3. The notice can be found on our website at www.hmrc.gov.uk and by clicking on Quick Links in the box on the left of the screen.Scroll down to:

Re: Re-importing and Customs fees?
I should add I got the sender to mark it as "return to owner-warranty repair" and it came through without me having to do anything, though i may have just been lucky, the HMRC response is the official way to do it

Re: Re-importing and Customs fees?
Cheers TB, I'll get them to mark the package and hope it makes it through, otherwise I'll go down the OPR route.

Re: Re-importing and Customs fees?
Ive had a few things sent back, and the declaration has been marked "warranty repair" with no issues.
