What's the chances that metal filings have caused a problem?

Re: Best <£100 tool for removing blade stock
How did you get on at the store?
Carnt see filings been an issue on it, they collect behind the belt and at best some might get behind the bottom cover plate, but more worried about the electrics and heat. It will get hot don't get me wrong but if after 20 mins of normal use its too hot to keep your hand there then there is a problem.
For the money they are pretty tough, I set mine on fire buy not hovering out wood dust then going straight to grinding steel and its still okSome of my past work here :)

Re: Best <£100 tool for removing blade stock
Been looking at something similar myself, thanks for all the input.
Question though, i have a bench grinder, & have seen conversion kits to make it a polisher, can i get kits to make it a sander for woodwork ?.
Thanks for all your advice.

Good price Rob
Re the last post, yes for the polishing question. Just buy a 6" polishing wheel and compounds. Ones for wood are a bit more expensive but ( some may say its cheating
) I think its worth it. On the linisher question, again yes you can but its simpler to get one of those aldi jobbys then its done for you, Clarke also make one.
My set up is fairly simple, my main linisher, a heavy duty bench grinder with med and course grit wheels then a version of the Clarke linisher/bench grinder. The latter I have fitted a polishing wheel for steel and use the linisher for wood. Seems ok for the volume I do.Some of my past work here :)
