OK, so progress of a sort.

After extensive creative research, (watched the films), I fired up my fancy, hi-tech design app BitOfChalk, and fed in all the requisite dimensional data.
Finally came up with something that didn't look like too much of an eyesore.

Fairly happy with it, until I realized I was probably making a shortsword, not a knife.

Never mind. Used the RubThatBitOutYouMuppet function to modify the design slightly. Isn't this kind of technology incredible?

Anyway, that's the brain work done. On with some metal-bashing...

But it can buy you a guitar, and that's sort of the same thing.

Ok, I've had a think and I'm pretty sure I can get this finished, I've started carving a handle, tested the big lump of steel I've planned to use...hardens well. Just hope my skills are up to it....or that I can hide behind the post apocalyptic, made in the badlands rough and ready look.

    My efforts so far

This was suposed to have a multi layer handle, i did have some red n black g-10 glued to the top of the carbon fibre but by the time i started shaping the handle was way to thick and there wasnt much of the g-10 left so i sanded it completely off and tried my hand at sculpting the cf, 1st time for me, always like the look of other knives ive seen with the effect, but thought it wouldnt be comfy, i was wrong

    Wow Stuart, that is fantastic.

cheers fella's, its a bit of a miss match in design's ive wanted to try, i'm more pleased with it than i thought!dont really no wether or not to age the blade or not, patina or gun blue it so it looks like something out of madmax, looks a bit shiney????
i might fill a few of the larger holes, but not doing them all, to be honest the pictures show them all up more than in the flesh!

that looks most excellent Stu very much in keeping with the theme of the KITH and definitely worth you having a go at the sculpting it looks spot on Man , well done .

perhaps cos its all set in a Nuclear desert an all over sand blast would be in order ,the litle holes would be eaten away or made into more of a feature and the blade would be sorted too .if its carbon (cant remember ) then perhaps blast the scales but then etch the blade .
