    Foam for kydex?

Hi guys, did a quick search...

What foam are you chaps using for your kydex sheath presses?

I've got a garden knee pad at the moment which works but its not great.

    Cheers

best stuff is the one sold by knife kits etc

right density and thickness for good definition and handles the heat well

if you want to pop round when in the Cranborne area

can get some next time i order but may be a while

I have some neoprene foam, you can get it from rubber manufacturers.

Note that you specifically need neoprene foam not just neoprene, it's not the same thing (ask me how I know )

Hi all I am having the same problem, I'm trying to make my first sheath but do finding it hard to get the definition. No problem heating it up with a heat gun but the foam in my press just isn't doing it. Has anyone got any suggestions where I can get some suitable foam easily.

Than you in advance for any help

I don't know if this is any help, but I used 2 of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GARDEN-KNE...item1c35c50d7e
With 2 pieces of thick plywood the same size on the outside of the sandwich, and a firm clamp up in a vice (Hand operated Quick- Grips were not strong enough).

I have done likewise with good results. The pads don't seem to have any problems with the heat from what I have seen but I havene't exactly put them to industrial use. Of course I paid a quid a piece so if they get ruined after a few oh well.
