But they look so cheesy.

It probably was a very good watch.δxδp≥h/4π

Re: Wrist watches
I agree with you on how cheesy Rolex's seem to look, dont get me wrong their great watches and I wish I could afford one, but for my "utilitarian" purposes, the watches in my attachments do the trick. by the way they can all be found for sale at the following link: http://www.mkiiwatches.com./index.html

Re: Wrist watches
hi m8
gotta say - i have worn my sea dweller every day now for the last 5 years and still grin to myself when looking at the time - i think it's stunning. it'll last a lifetime and then some.
of course i'll never get the chance to prove it's waterproof to 1200 meters, but hey, that's fine by me.
like fine knives, fine watches are an investment - only they cost a lot more to collect the 'really nice' ones

Re: Wrist watches
You mean a Dolex? :p
My Seamaster is built very well and looks nice without being gaudy. Even to the untrained eye it is obviously not a cheap watch. I think it has the perfect balance of quality and style without the cheese factor. I personally find lumps of gold etc as a real turn off. I was also considering a Tag watch as they are simple but stylish. I much prefer the Seamaster and to me it is the Sebenza of the watch world.

Re: Wrist watches
this is my old friend, a reebok divers watch. ive had him for years but hes really showing his age. the battery doesnt last long if you use the night glow button every day.
my rats chewed off its bezel so ive been looking for a new watch since

im looking for a military style automatic watch with a black face.
must be waterproof enough to survive a sink or bathtub. i dont intend to go deep sea diving but ive lost way too many cheap watches to washing my hands or forgetting to take them off in the shower.
i cant wear metals so it has to have a fabric or leather strab of some sort. sadly, it has to cost less than £50 but i will go as high as 80.
if money was no object id get a tag heuer
this watch looks nice. i saw it in a movie.

Re: Wrist watches
Notwithstanding the "cheap and nasty" comments, previously made...I went for a Lumninox "Navy Seal - ho ho ho" silver body, black bezel/face...partly for diving, partly because I'm often in the dark (or was that 'kept in the dark')...etc... For all that they might be thought cheap and Nasty, mine has resisted scratching, dives regularly to 60-80 feet without issue and the gas lights are incredibly effective. I got mine new from an eBay dealer about 2 years ago and have been immensely pleased with it. Sure, no Rolex, but having worked in the software/consulting industry I guess I rather developed the "oh here comes another Rolex wearer..." syndrome too...
A friend of mine just got the ALL black "Stealth" version with a better bezel/sapphire glass and it looks first rate. Also, the rubber strap that I thought would go in no time, hence I ordered a spare when I bought the watch, hasn't even shown a crack.
121 Seals on eBay and 20 Stealths....take your pick...any color
kind regards,
Simon

Re: Wrist watches
Wouldn't be this one would it?
http://www.h3products.com/cgi-bin/ne...ory=H3_watches
from http://www.h3products.com
This is a subdiv of the company that make tritium stuff over here "traser" and as far as I can tell, the watches are the same as the luminox - well pretty much. I think both the luminox and traser are copies of the original Stocker & Yale SandY P650 - the *real* navy seal watch.
see...

I think the UK traser bezel is a more accurate copy, than the luminox.
The traser is caller the P6500 (lol) and is virtually identical to the original S&Y P650 see..

Slightly different to the luminox bezel...

Man I cant believe how geeky this post is.

Re: Wrist watches
Symes...those are not Authorised Luminox Dealers.
Luminox has a very strict agreement and policy that any dealer has to sign. You are not allowed to sale them on sites such as ebay or any other auction site.
Same as Tag...they will not allow their watches to be sold on a website by a authorised dealer...they can be advertised, but the customer must come into the store to buy it.

Appologies :notworthy ...edited to remove that I am a ...oops can't say that :tapedshut ....
Was just trying to point out how I knew, before the question came up or someone thought I talking bs... was not even thinking of it to be honest with you
.... I'm sure most did not realise that a contract as such was in effect.
While Tad has stickers that state their watches are not sold on the internet by a authorized dealer, that stores place in their cabinets. I haven't seen the same go for Luminox. So I was just letting the users here know that they could be buying a fake or have something with no warranty if off sites such as ebay.
cheers,
Joe
