Best 2nd hand air rifle under 300?

Looking at getting an air rifle for hunting - rabbits and squirrel. What do you recommend I look at under 300 second hand. Thanks

There is a lot out there to be had for that money, anything else important? how about weight, long or short? do you like pumper, springers, or pre -charge?

Unless you are good with a spring rifle then a PCP would be the best bet. Plus practice a good bit to get accurate before hunting so you don't end up with injured bunnies running off to die A used BSA scorpion is a cheap start, plus a Hawke scope and a dive bottle to fill it with. You may just get that lot for 300. AirgunBBS forum has good classifieds or even facebook

If you go the springer route have a look at a Weihrauch 95, you will get a new one for your budget.

I had a BSA (Mercury?) as a young un and have shot quite a bit in the many years since then, only ever springers or 12g so no real preference. I like the idea of PCP's for weight and recoil. 'm not into injuring animals so would obviously ensure I'm proficient with the rifle before heading out. The 300 would have to include a scope (recommendations?) and slip. The closer to 200 I could get the better though!

I can't see him finding a hw100 at 300 notes. I would buy a nice sorted hw97k or anything in the hw family that's had a fettle. If you could get a pcp and kit for the money as said above a bsa scorpion or bsa ultra are great accurate guns.

My hw100ks is my go to rifle for all tasks related to hunting but God your right about it being boring. I stopped going to the club because nothing was a challenge with it. Aim click hit every time. I've recently got back into springers and actually enjoy the sport again.

Any well cared for Weirauch or Air Arms springer would see you right. You might struggle to find a good scoped PCP on a budget of less than 300 though. A used Gamo Coyote maybe but they are relatively new to the market. Never fired one myself but they use BSA barrels and loading hardware, so should more than capable. Also the old MMC BSA ultras can be had very cheaply now.

Stripped or gnarled stock and internal screws are a dead give away that the gun has been tinkered with and should be avoided like the plague.

ALWAYS check on a chronograph if buying privately, and that goes for both springers and PCP's.

My mate has purchased a Theoben Rapid 7 MK1 by a private Internet sale recently, and he has had a headache ever since

Airgunbbs is a great forum. Personally I'd go springer as you can get some great deals and they are a lot more satisfying in the long run! Pcps get a little boring after a while

    Weihrauch Model 35 or 77 or 80.

    Feinwerkbau 124 or 127.

Then read, and comply with, this post.
