    Re: disco gearbox

You don't mention what model of disco you have, or its general condition, Im guessing not a D3 as transmission replacement on one of them would be about double that I think?

The Patriot does not seem to be a greatly reviewed car at all, Disco is a legend, provided the rest of the car is in decent condition and has a good few years left in it, I would stick with the Disco. It's worth nothing as a non runner.

    Re: disco gearbox

I dunno about Land Rover parts in general but considering that it's 17 years old, will/are they discontinuing some specific parts?

I know that Peugeot have stopped making internal parts for their Boxer of the same vintage for example.

If you spend a small fortune on it now, it would be nice to know that you could still get hold of a gearbox part in a few years from now, if need be.

I know where you could have got a spares or repair Disco 200tdi with autobox for 500 but I now see you have a td5...(The engine and gearbox are fine, it's the body that's going/gone)

I'd sort the gearbox without batting an eyelid in that case.

    Fix the Disco.

My boss has a Jeep. He hates it. They don't generally seem to be well thought of on the local 4x4 scene either.
