Question Looking for a great Tommi for..

Looking for a Tommi knife that is both a tool and heirloom quality...

But I have a budget of $300 USD and most places seem to have a very high price (for good reason, of course) on their Tommi.

I have been eyeing Kainuun Tommi knives and have tried to contact Hankala by email, but I understand he is very busy with long wait-lists and am not sure when to hear back.

My main concerns regard the handmade quality and durability of the steel and the craftsmanship of the handle. Basically functionality meets style.

Has anyone received a knife from either makers as of recent and what are your thoughts? Any other suggested makers that I can contact that can offer a well made Tommi for X>$300 USD?

    Thanks all

You may try to contact Martti Malinen. He should be more in the 230-250 $ area.

He has specialized in using 52100 and has been a blacksmith and knifemaker since the early 90s.

Hankala is good. Or get a blade and have it handled. There are a number of great people here for that.

    Here's one from bwildered

I like Kampiina's work too. Also, if you can find a Kallionemi, that would help

Thanks all, I got an offer from someone on the forum. It's a Puronvarsi carbon steel blade that was handled with great care!

Hasn't arrived yet, as Mr Doyle just shipped it out today, but he sent me these!
Im not too sure if the spine has a hand-forged finish or not, but either way, its beautiful. The ironwood really contrasts the blade well.
