Re: Scandi Sheaths My Way
Thats done it . I've altered the handles on my carving knives. Of course the sheaths are now US . So off to ebay to get some leather and give it a try.
Hoping you can teach an old dog new tricks.

Re: Scandi Sheaths My Way
Thanks Tvividr
I enjoyed your contribution so much that it made me get out of my hammock and make my first Scandi Sheath.
I followed your instruction to the letter and, I had instant success with the fit. I re-sheathed a Bergan Troll knife that I purchased in the early sixties.
The finish on the sheath should have been two tone but, the dye wouldn't behave itself so it ended up all one colour.
My satisfaction is in knowing that the design/construction is traditional and thanks to your guidance, I will treasure this sheath always.
See a picture of my effort.
Greatfully

Re: Scandi Sheaths My Way
Thank you very much, I have made about 10 scandi sheaths with each getting a little better, but this tutorial will definitely speed up the learning process.

Re: Scandi Sheaths My Way
Just wanted to say many thanks! I just finished putting a handle on my first scandi knife and making a sheath. If I could post a pic, I would show you what you helped me do. I have a 7 year old son who is about to wet his pants because he just got his first sheath knife- that you helped me make. In his 7 year old eyes, this is the best gift ever! Handle made with antler he and his uncle found together, black walnut cut on our farm, and a Helle blade. Don't have a forge yet, but I'm working toward that. Thanks again for awesome educational post!

Re: Scandi Sheaths My Way
I was hoping to find some information on this type of sheath and what I found was even better. Thanks a lot!
