New Belgian Weapons Law
http://www.just.fgov.be/nl_htm/recht...wet/index.html
illegal to own :
spring- en valmessen met slot (ook knipmessen of stiletto’s genaamd), vlindermessen, werpmessen, werpsterren (ook shuriken genaamd), boksbeugels ;
blanke wapens die uiterlijk gelijken op een ander voorwerp (bijvoorbeeld een mes verborgen in een gordel of pen) ;
degenstokken en geweerstokken die geen historische sierwapens zijn ;
knotsen en wapenstokken (ook knuppels of matrakken genaamd);
nunchaku’s (in tegenstelling tot wat velen denken, bestaat hierop geen uitzondering voor Oosterse gevechtssporten!);
krachtige katapulten (bijvoorbeeld slingers).
No longer illegal to own:
- Dolken, dolkmessen en vouwmessen met een niet-automatisch blokkeermechanisme vallen hier niet langer onder, maar het dragen ervan blijft onderworpen aan een wettige reden.Last edited by ggfh666; 12-06-06 at 07:38 PM.

Re: New Belgian Weapons Law
I will try to translate if I have time.
There is a differnce between legal ownership and legal carry.Most important imo is legal reason to carry.
Best to avoid carrying knives in public spaces.An Opinel n°1 (if that exists) in the wrong place will get you in trouble.
But no problem when you are camping, fishing, hunting, pruning.ggfh666

Re: New Belgian Weapons Law
I'll make an effort:
Illegal to own
- push daggers
- otf and gravity knives
- butterfly knives/balisongs
- knives with knuckle duster handles
- switchblades
- throwing knives
- knives that are "disguised"
No longer illegal to own
- daggers
- bayonets
For carrying knives the Belgian law gives no requirements
Every knife is considered a weapon
( http://justitie.belgium.be/nl/binari...265-144735.pdf page 26 and page 32 weapon or tool? )
You always need a legal reason for carrying a weapon.
(see pdf page 31 and 115)
So you can conclude it's strict illegal to carry a knife in Belgium.
I hope someone would prove me wrong
