Re: Shipping knifes
Yes.
As long as the knife itself is legal to recieve in this country. By this I am referring to the offensive weapons act (or whatever its called), that specifically bans; flick knives, gravity knives, balisongs etc
Check in the law forum and there are LOTS of links to the wording.
Any reason you thought it might be not, or is it just a general question?
As an example I had a knife made for me by a BB member in the US and he posted it to me and marked it as a knife and their were no problems with it. People on BB also often buy from retailer in the US called New Graham and apart from paying import duty and taxes, as long as the knife is UK legal it gets to the recipient.
Also, there are people like Danzo hovering around BB who can give you a more official answer as they have a legal background, whereas im simply an accomplished parrot
Welcome by the way

Re: Shipping knifes
There is a list of illegal weapons stickied at the top of this section
If your knife is not on this list then yes it is legal. Import duties apply , sometimes customs and excise will open the parcel in transit and the shipping company will pay the customs charge (for another fee) and ask the recipient to pay both on delivery (Parcelforce is notorious for this)
Other times the package will arrive unopened and uninspected, the recipient is expected to contact the tax authorities and pay the import duty.

I know it is true , I saw it on the internet.

Re: Shipping knifes
Thanks for the quick replies. The knife has a 3 in blade and is a liner lock.

In that case, thanks for taking the time to come over & ask, it is appreciated. I wish more folks from your side of the pond would do this in the polite, mannered way that you have.

Re: Shipping knifes
Hello Mallard,
I am a US based dealer and most of my business is in the UK. I generally ship via USPS Global Priority Mail. I think it is the preferred method of shipping internationally. Delivery time is generally 4-6 days. You can even print your shipping labels online at USPS.com or through paypal. I hope this helps. Charityhttp://www.bladesandbrights.com/; Email and Paypal id: charitychimni@gmail.com :) ; Please view updated information about shipping
Shipping $6.50 for basic, $16.95 for flat rate envelopes, and $38+ for tracking.
Purchase of all items is "At your own Risk," It is your responsibility to adhere to all local laws. I am not responsible for items confiscated by customs. Thank you.

Great news that your getting a consistent message from all areas, helps stop confusion down the line. Has happened to me where ive been told something by the UK postal service which has been untrue and the person was simply mis-informed about their job
