    The cat was away so....

Last weekend swmbo and the 2 mini swmbos were away. So i had some time to to do some work on a few full tangs that have been glued up and waiting for finishing for a while.

They are 3 totally different blades, one in Stainless by Eklund ( nice shape to the blade i thought)

One by our own Stuart m

And another a damascus one with 125 layers of 1084 and 15n20C

The sheathes are all sewn up and ready for wet forming.. chances are these will be done some stage in the next 14 days or so as i'll have time to play a bit. This is naturally an unknown thing at present with work etc....

    Here they are.

    First the Eklund.

Scales in Amboina burl oil treated with teak oil then boiled linseed and terps., Pins and tube are aluminium. Sheath sewn and waiting.

The second is By Stuart M.

Scales are cocobola ( i think ) and the pins are 4 mm mosaic pins from Brisa.

The handle is left chunky ( batteries on the cam are dead though) and it sits really nicley in the hand. Steel is naturally O1.

The last is A blade made in idaho. by 2 finger knife company. They are in the same place as Grand Leavit.

It is made with 125 layers of 1084 and 15n20c, and is hardened to around 58 rc.

The blade is a bit different and thats the reason I chose it.
it is dresses in stripey mapel ( not my favourite), i sanded this back to 800 grit then coloured it with a red/brown pigment and then resanded back to 1500 wet sanding each time. the result was ok although i don't think i'll use it again unless i have some of the proper chemicals to bring out he best in the pattern.

    Pins are again aluminium.

    Comments as always welcome.

    Thanks for looking.

Sheaths to be done as and when time allows. some time before christmas.......

They are still to be buffed when the oi has cured properly.
