Experience I have been making collaboration knives since 1994 and fully hand-made knives since 1998. Went full-time in 2006. I make mostly full tangs, but do stick tangs as well. Today about 95% of the knives I build are totally hand made by me. About 5% are still collaborative efforts.

Makes Sole authorship forged typical ABS style hidden, full and through tang knives of W2, 1084, Cru Forge V and damascus made from varying combinations of 1084, W2, and 15N20, with hardwood, fossil ivory and sambar stag handles and guard/fittings of mild steel, wrought iron, stainless steel or nickel silver. Most are flat ground with a convex edge. Large W2 blades clay tempered with hamon. Small W2 blades completely hardened with tang and ricasso clay coated. Sheaths are outsourced, but cross guard knives can be made to the general profile dimensions of any Randall model and can use a standard Sullivan's Holster Shop sheath which start at about 18 pounds for a 6 inch bladed knife and 21 pounds for one with a stone pouch and stone. Single guard hunters provided with border tooled Treestump Leather pouch sheaths starting at 22 pounds. Paul Long or Kenny Rowe sheaths are available for larger knives. Bare heat treated blades can be had and are priced on a case by case basis.

Price Range Knives start at 80 pounds for a small forged EDC with scales and no guard, sheaths at my cost
Typical single guard hunter with Treestump sheath is 120-150 pounds depending on steel, fitting and handle material choice
Mid-sized field knives with blades in the 6-8 1/2 inch range start at 170 pounds including a Sullivan sheath.
Bowies and large camp knives from 225 pounds not including sheath cost.
My standard blade steel is very high quality 1084 1 x 1/4" and 1 1/2 x 1/4" flat bar that has carbon content of .86-.89%. I have a limited supply of surplus General Motors body panel tooling W2 round bar and large square bar which has 1.00% carbon and .24% vanadium. I also have a large amount of Cru Forge V bar stock. Any blade made from W2 will incur a premium of at least 10 pounds because of the extra labor involved forging it to a usable size and the scarcity of the steel. Cru Forge V blades are also 10 pounds extra due to the difficulty of hand finishing the blades because of the higher vanadium content. Damascus is priced upon request. Wrought iron fittings on knives will also incur a premium because the fittings have to be forged down from 1 inch diameter anchor chain links from the mid 1800's. The extra cost for exotic handle materials such as fossil ivory, horn, oosic or stag will be added to the normal cost of the knife.
