"Kill It, Cook It, Eat It."
Monday 5 to Wednesday 7 March
10.30-11.15pm BBC THREE
In the public consciousness there is a gap between the animals they see in the field and the meat they consume. Kill It, Cook It, Eat It is likely to change that.
Over three nights, food journalist Richard Johnson, butcher John Mettrick, slaughter man Steven Mettrick and chef Rachel Green bring together two moments the public have separated: the death of an animal and the consumption of its meat.
An invited group of guests will watch the team slaughter and butcher the animals the way it happens thousands of times a day up and down the country then be served a variety of cuts. This is the journey from farm to fork, from pasture to plate.
Can people be introduced to the entire food chain killing and all and come out the other side feeling better about the meat they eat?
In Monday's programme, Beef, the first animals to be slaughtered, butchered and prepared are cattle.

It's an interesting subject (the prep of our food ) i have worked in the food industry and i have seen quite a bit of butchery and my brother was a butcher, i also think it's a sad time when kids think that milk comes from the supermarket shelf and not the cow in the field

Re: "Kill It, Cook It, Eat It."
I know where meat comes from. I know how its kept, killed, cut and cooked.
These programs are just a pain in the a£$e.
Because i eat meat every day, doesnt mean i want to see it killed. If i wanted to see that i would become a slaughterman.
And frankly, if a kid thinks milk comes from a shelf then the school and parents are not doing their job.
I know for a fact that people are going to force themselves to watch this program because they think its a normal natural proccess and i eat meat so why should i be bothered watching an animal die, when i eat it every day?
Because its alarming to watch. Thats why. And can be quite disturbing.
Dont fool yourself into thinking this a must watch program because you eat meat.
Dont believe the blurb on the advertisement, this is another program made for shock value. Nothing else.
EDIT: And if it was made for educational purposes then it would not be on so late. This is entertainement in shock value.Last edited by thomas; 04-03-07 at 04:06 PM.

I think what tant is getting at is that you post these articles without an opinion of your own. Maybe not this particular one as its an advertisement. But others which end up political and people get wound up.
Some people find that to post a subject and not comment is like throwing a bone into a cage of dogs and watch them fight over it. As you stand back watching in ammusement
Although as someone said, its not happening very often now so im not bothered.

Can't help but think if Bear Grylls was hosting this one it'd be simply called "Eat it"
