Knife, Axe and Tomahawk throwing Open Day
29th April 2007
10.00am till 4.00pm
Sutton Lane, Birkin, nr Pontefract, West Yorkshire.
( A map can be provided if required but please don't try to use sat. nav. to get there as new roads have been built locally and are not yet readily available on maps)
The cost will be £10 per head.
This will include the use of knives, axes, tomahawks, targets and tuition.
It also includes a light lunch and tea and coffee as required.
Off road parking available.
There will be a competition at the end of the day, with prizes.
The location is a paintball site which has a dedicated throwing area.
If you are attending please PM or email me, ASAP, as I need to know the numbers for parking and catering purposes.
If you intend to attend please note that you use the facilities, knives etc entirely at your own risk. As such you will be asked to sign a disclaimer to this effect. All reasonable precautions will be taken as regards safety.
If you have never thrown a knife, axe or tomahawk before, this is your opportunity to develop a new sport which is full of fun. But I warn you, it is addictive .
Happy throwing.

Re: Knife, Axe and Tomahawk throwing Open Day
good idea! I held a similar thing a few years ago down here, but it was semi-invite only as space was limited.
I suggest that anybody in the area go along, it's great fun and you'd be suprised how easily you can pick up throwing! Axes are a good start, they are fun and easy to do, SWMO loves them!

Re: Knife, Axe and Tomahawk throwing Open Day
It's a shame there hasn't been more interest in this!
Some of you may have spoken to John (Littlejohn) at the Leeds Armouries Spyderco meetup. He was the very tall (
) ex-police officer speaking to me and UK-Ken about the knife throwing.
I know that John is very keen on getting this off the ground as a regular function, and his venue sounds ideal.
Even if people can't commit to the event on the 29th April would y'all be interested in a similiar one on other dates?

Re: Knife, Axe and Tomahawk throwing Open Day
Thanks for the bump Danzo.
I didn't expect too much interest in the Open day as this sport is very specialised but I must admit I did expect a bit more interest !!
Could it be that travelling wil play a major factor or is there just not the interest on here ??
Are there any other forums I could try ??
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Knife, Axe and Tomahawk throwing Open Day
I would have thought there'd be a lot of interest?

I for one would love to give it a go, but unfortunately Henley to W. Yorkshire is a bit far when you have a NKP for a wife.
If we could arrange something down here, then I'd be well up for it.

Some how I never even saw this thread until now!!!
I chatted with LittleJohn about this at Leeds and will be very interested in going. I'll have to check my dates and let you know ASAP. Also if it helps, (if I'm a yes) I will be able to take an additional 4 BB people from the Notts/Derbys or anything on the way up to Pontefract if they want to come.

I am also "Dahn Sarf" so the problem is the distance/cost involved in getting there, especially as this is a one day event.
A weekend event (with on site camping) would probably entice me up there in the future.
I hope that anyone who can make it, supports this event!

Just noticed this. Sounds like fun but we are south of south london and tied up Sundays. Saturdays are good though. It's not enough just to practice in the garden (rebounds you know)

Re: Knife, Axe and Tomahawk throwing Open Day
Hello Littlejohn - I've just noticed this one (never read the meet ups
) I would be very interested this work permitting, think my pie eating uncle might like the sound of it too if non-members are allowed.
I have no experience at lobbing metal but he's had some experience with such things through his martial arts background. Plus we're only in Wakey.
Edit: ah phooey! I'm at the Stafford bike show that weekend. Sorry.Last edited by scruff; 28-03-07 at 05:03 PM.

I am going to rty and make it along to this... It all depends on how the workload looks leading up to Bristol '07
I'll confirm closer if that is ok?
Looks like a great day
