    Extrema Ratio T2000M Tenebra

I received my T2000M along with my Nemesis, and im sorry to report, ive yet to actually use it in any meaningful manner. Theres' a reason for this and that is because its bloomin' H-U-G-E, far too big for me to sneak it downstairs into work. So this write-up is far from comprehensive, but i'll try my best to give you my impression of it regardless.

The first thing you notice when you take it out of its box is, unsurprisingly, its size. It comes inside its sheath, and it seems to take forever to pull it all the way out. The edge is razor sharp straight out of the box, with the blade well oiled and ready to go. It's not as heavy as i thought it would be, making it less unwieldy than you might think. Only slight niggle is the balance of the knife, with its centre of gravity appearing to be a few inches forward of the hilt. If it was a bit more top heavy, it would make a passable machete, but as it is, its not the best blade for chopping.

The handle is made from sort of injection moulded plastic with velcro-type panels on the sides, giving it a pleasingly tactile feel and grip. Its not real "hook and loop" type velcro, it looks more like densely packed plastic stalks with balls on the end. This means it doesnt stick itself to the corresponding patch on the sheath like velcro would work, but it stops the blade from sliding out of the sheath. To properly secure it, you need to use the little strap with popper button. It also means the handle will not get caught or foul itself if you wear woolly gloves. Velcro gloves might be a different story, but as Joe will soon be residing in South Wales, i'll leave you to make your own sheep/welsh jokes

All in all, its a very impressively made blade, designed to take severe abuse like the other Extrema Ratios ive had the pleasure of handling. The balance of the thing makes me think that the medium sized version of the T2000 would be much better balanced, with the T2000M being the same knife with some extra length on the blade. Perhaps a metal handle similar to the folders would make it better balanced at the expense of a little extra weight.
Still, im very happy with it as is. Like the other ERs i have, it gives off that same aura of indestructability and will last a lifetime of severe abuse.

hmmm that was a bbbbaaaaaddddd joke to make about my soon to be living enviroment.

accually if you look at the handle velcro type material .. you will see that on the sheath is the same material.. when you push them together it gives it that locked fit.

    cheers,
    Joe
