Re: my first project, almost finished
The blade is made out of RWL-34 steel, the guard is the same material.
The handle is made out of black micarta, and i am going to put 3 aluminium pipes through the handle. After that, sand it some more, and polish.
I am waiting for some kydex at the moment to make the sheath.

That is a very nice knife Mr Shooter. Very elegant and slightly dangerous.
In our English pounds how much would you want for this knife?
Out of interest.

Re: my first project, almost finished
Ok this is where I look really dumb. looking at your site I see that you cut the knife from the RWL34 with a saw of some sort. filed the edges ground and polished it. am I to assume that it has been heat treated and you never said or it is to be heat treated ( I thought that would kill the polish) or RWL34 is a bit like wootz and can be used fresh.
pretty dumb question I know but I'm just a little confused as to how you can cut out hardend blade steel if it was pre-treated

Re: my first project, almost finished
Stonehard,
The RWL34 was not hardend before i cut it.
After sawing it in to shape, and filing, i sanded the blade to a 2400 grit (by hand). After that, i polished it on my buffing wheel.
After this i did the heat treatment. The polish does get killed, but it is much easier to polish it again. The coating (hmm... wrong word, but i can't find another) after heat treatment comes off really easy if you polish it before the HT.
You are right, i didn't mention it on my little site.
