Welcome Lionel - if you're likely to use the light quite a lot it may be worth selecting a Surefire that can accept the Pila rechargeable batteries which will save you a fortune in 123a battery costs. Again available from our friend Joe (who is currently in the USA so probably hasn't woken up yet... )

    Hi Lionel

I would go for a L4, it has a 5W LED and puts out as much light as the other 2 x 123a cell SF's but with a bit less throw. Great flood spill as well though that makes up for it IMHO.

You should be able to get one for a 100 quid ish and then save up for the Pila charger and Li-Ions to run it on. As the L4 is regulated it works superbly on the lower voltage Pila rechargeables.

huh..what..yawn..stretch..keep it down guys I'm trying to sleep over here!

Just give me a email ..my surefire count on the site right now is a bit off...should get that resolved tonight though updating that inventory section.

then again I was awake at 11AM which is 5pm UK time.

I have no sleep pattern as many here have come to find out....though Nikki says that is soon to be straightened out once I get over to the UK.

    cheers,
    Joe

I wasn't aware you did sleep, Joe. You seem to work every hour God sends, not that you'll hear complaints.

    Hi Lionel

    Welcome to the madhouse

    wot Baggy said

The nice thing about the Surefire range is the amount of switches/heads and bulbs available, start with a basic model then add LED heads, rechargable batteries as you can afford/need to.

    Cheers

    Re: newbie alert

Lionel, I would definetly recomend saving up for the A2. I have one and it is truly great, if you are using it for camping the LEDs are plenty bright enough for close range work and the batteries will last ages, and you still have the ability to do your spotting with the incan.
