    Bushcrafter weekend II

I just got back from the EMCCUBCWE II. It was a very different atmosphere from the first on, as expected, and I had a great time. I hope that others enjoyed themselves too. The children all got along really well, although we didn't get to do the shelter building I'd hoped to because of maintainance work being carried out on site. (I'll take you shelter building girls, I promise)

Thanks to everyone for coming along.

There were several cameras there, yes. I had mine but forgot to get it out of the bag all weekend. Hopefully someone will post some later. Guy reckons the next meet should include a hogroast and dancing girls. And he wasn't joking.

My camera's still buried in the back of the car somewhere, but I'll get my pictures up as soon as I have emptied the car.

Top job from Ant on organising the whole thing (I'll even let him off on being hours late ). My son definitely had a whale of a time, it's not often he is given such free reign for so long and it was brilliant that he had Ant's boys & David's girls to run around with as well. Now I just need to convince the wife about getting Louis a knife for his birthday as "there were children there younger than me who had a knife"

Louis' just been regaling his grandma with tales of dead rabbits hanging in trees, eating squirrel (& watching some of the skinning) and trying to light a fire.

Edit: and yes, believe it not it was dry virtually the whole weekend (with sunshine on the Saturday) with only a very small shower early Sunday morning until we were all packed to go and just sitting in the car when the heavens opened . I think Ant my have connections with people in high places, if you know what I mean

Yep, the onluy question from the girls is when is the next one. Soph had her first go at bushcraft style sleeping, insulated mat on the floor, tarp strung between two trees and a thick sleeping bag. Want to try a hammock next time! Like Jim said the kids had a whale of a time, a whole wood to run riot in and limitless supply of sticks of all sizes to sharpen into spears. Pity they didn;t manage to bag one of the Muntjacks Ant said plauge the wood, silent stalking didn't seem to be their thing! Thanks again Anthony.

And there was me thinking he meant pictures of the exotic dancing ladies

That's a shame Guy, guess we'll have to wait for 'that' video

Regarding photo's; Ant & David, do you have any objections to pictures of your children being posted here (i.e. generally available on the internet)? For the record I have no problem with pictures of Louis being put up here.

    Re: Bushcrafter weekend II

    Hi,

I had a great time, despite not being able to stay the night due to a shooting competition the next day.

Many thanks to all involved for a great afternoon and evening. Also to Guy for feeding me once the barbecue decided to produce some heat.

I do have a few pictures. Mostly of the animal preparation and the archery. It may take me a couple of days to sort them out though.

It's a good location for the event. Amazed to find it was almost on my doorstep. Although the Sat Nav did take me to the road leading to the main office rather than the wood and it took a little driving round the block to find the proper entrance.

Please sign me up for the next one whenever it may be and I'll try and bring a tent and camp over.

    Many Thanks

    Mark

    PICCIE TIME

    Wet?
    It had been:

You couldn't walk very fair through the woods before coming across a flooded path, I think the children managed to run through them all as well.

    Proof; Sunshine!

    Boys toys:

Shing did this with a arrow from a compound bow (although he was actually aiming at the target the can was on )
Tom (small_rod) then blew a massive hole in the can with his catapult (and he was aiming for it).

You can take soldier out of 'nam but you can't take 'nam out of the soldier

    Proper bushcraft

    Firelighting

    Camping Undercover

    Camping field:

    WARNING: Dead animals:

I've got some others with the children, just want to check it's ok to post these.

    Raffle News

The raffle was run on Sunday so apologies to Andy and Cones who were only there for the Saturday, I had completely forgot about it.

The first prize in the raffle was a engraved SAK Alox Soldier with custom Singtek sheath, this was won by Tom (small_rod). We also had some runner up prizes (many thanks to Danzo) of an LED converted Maglite, a leather Gerber sheath and a couple of spy-capsules. These went to Mick (one_rod), dtalbot, etalbot & Guy respectively. Cheers all
