    Re: Lets see your rifles?

One of the survivors called: Model 1900 FN Automatic
Browning design only a few thousands were made. The french aviation used it in the first years of the great war because the planes couldn't shoot trough the propellers. It's a bifg bullet :350 for lions and bears. They bought also Winchesters (a few thousand) to arm the crew.Very heavy gun, loaded with clips.PS Kalashnikov copied the safety

    Re: Lets see your rifles?

[QUOTE=deovolens;940977]The first one is a target 243 from Francotte build like a long Stutzen: barrel is free floating Delcour match and 26 " long with Zeiss scope and Suhler montage

That is really something rather special. If you ever get tired of it, perhaps fancying a Wetherby with a synthetic stock, white line spacers, then please let me know

The second is an origonal Steyr Model 1905 in cal 9.5 (munition is obsolete)
It has a scope provision but I put the scope somewhere???)It is NOT a military rebuild and the sights are original. Those rifles were handbuild and you could order any sights you wanted.

    ........

Many moons ago I had a Model 1910 in the same calibre. Lovely rifle but not an impressive round. I managed to collect about 120 rounds from various corners of gunshops in Rhodesia. Although the ammo is obsolete the rifles still bring good prices in auctions in the UK. I have not seen sights like that before, they look like the sights used on rifles for driven wild boar.

this one is a take down Steyr 1903 rebuild by H&H and used in the trenches by a British "hunter": barrel is extremely long, bolt is very thick for the mud and a diopter is build on the stock, 5 klick sights are mounted too and the stock was altered for a lying position. After the great war it stayed in Belgium .

    ....

That is interesting, I have seen (pics) of a couple of MS with round bolt handles and long barrels but never a takedown version.
You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

i bought it with the rearsight missing , someone had made a scoperail that screwed into the stock and trigger block which i've removed- there was a cheap and unbranded scope which strangely very crisp and clear with an illuminated ret
i acquired a sightbase from over on bbs unfortunately it's too narrow for the dovetail so i'll have to return it to the chap that gave it to me and see whether i can buy one as i'm not replacing the ugly scope rail

there are some beauts being posted in this thread- well done everyone

    OK - I'll play

Here's a couple I took at the range yesterday.

She's a Winchester model 62. .22 Long Rifle pump action. Might be an oldie but she's a goodie - lovely to shoot. I'll be using her next month at Bisley at the Trafalgar historic arms meeting.

As WhiteWolf says, Harris are the name to beat.

Here's one on my SAKO Finnfire:

It attaches in seconds - no tools required - to any rifle with a front sling stud fitted.
