5.11 gear
I've recently bought 3 sets of 5.11 trousers and some Long sleved shirts. they seem really well made but I wonder if you guys have any experience of them?

Re: 5.11 gear
I'd love to try some, Dougie, but 5.11 is rarer than rocking horse doo-doo from China.
Where did you buy it?

Re: 5.11 gear
I got them via Edgar Brothers UK. They only sell direct to Police, Military and EMS but it would be worth a try, even if you aren't one of the above groups?

Re: 5.11 gear
Why would Edgar Brothers want to restrict their sales like that? Strange ....

Re: 5.11 gear
Roger,
Edgar Brothers restrict sales except to retailers (the Police, military and ems personnel seem to be favoured I guess) Still I'm one of the favoured and so I'm not complaining!

Re: 5.11 gear
I wear 5.11 "tactical pants" whenever possible.
I got this reply from 5.11tactical the other day...
"Dear Sir,
We are just starting the A/B class uniform Series in the US and are going to be keeping those uniform trousers on stock in Europe as well towards the end of the year - navy blue only.
In the UK, our distributor is Edgar Brothers (derek@edgar-brothers.co.uk). They keep the entire Tactical line on stock for the UK market and once the uniforms are ready, those too.
Neither the A- nor the B-class pant has designated cell phone pockets, such as the one on the 5.11 Tactical pant. However, the B-class pant has two cargo pockets with BBS (velcro inside for our accessories to hold flash lights, hand cuffs or what ever is desired).
The B-class uniform pant actually has 9 different pockets, some of which are concealed, so they still look completely "normal".
Let me know if I can help you further!
Kind regards
EInar Cronstedt
International Sales Manager"
Based on this, and knowing that Edgar Bros don't deal with public like me, I will have to continue to get my 5.11 gear from the US which saves money and time.
Shame though.

Re: 5.11 gear
I got my 5.11 trousers from copquest.com. If I remember correctly they worked out at £35 a pair, including shipping, after currency conversion.

Re: 5.11 gear
Dougie,
Have multiple 5.11 trousers in khaki for casual and navy/black which I more often than not wear for EMS work. Despite not having the traditional setup of EMS pockets (who really needs all those shears and clamps right by your knees anyway?!) I prefer them, especially during cold-mild weather as they are incredibly comfortable and last seemingly indefinitely. The only time I avoid them is when it is really hot and humid because they get too hot, and take a long time to dry if you get caught in a thunder shower. (being southern US, we get all our rain the opposite way around - wet summers and dry winters...).
Most of the plain clothes cops here wear them too and many of them live in them at weekends also.
The narrow pocket on the front right, which can work with small non-flip european style cellphones (not the big arse Nextels that most public safety folks carry here...), was actually intended, I believe, to fit a Surefire 6P. I carry an L4 body+E2c+C3 head now with P61 lamp and it fits perfectly. Although, after a while, I did find that the bottom of the pocket wore through from using a surefire in there for long periods...
Kind regards,
Simon
