The League of Pipe Smokers
Hi folks
Given the interest expressed in this thread:
http://www.britishblades.com/forums/...ad.php?t=50745
I'm very pleased to announce the formation of the League of Pipe Smokers.
Membership of the League is simple. If you have previously smoked a pipe of tobacco, or would like to do so, then we will be your friends.
Anyone who posts a silly comment about other illegal uses of pipes will be banned.

I would very much like to join.
Can somebody recommend a pipe I'm likely to be able to find and a similar tobacco.
I do have a pipe shop near me. Named the pipe pub

I think it's time to replace my corncob pipe. Reccomend me a good fool-proof starter pipe.

I'd like to join please.
Is there a uniform or a 'swearing in' ceremony?

I'm in!
I used to smoke pipe, half'n'half mixed with some rhum flavoured tobacco. Lovely, but a bit strong for my lungs. That was about 15 years ago.
Thinking a lot lately about getting some nice pipes and trying some new tobaccos.
Still seeking for that lovely smelling tobacco mix, which I could never figure out what it was...

Re: The League of Pipe Smokers
For me this will be at least initially a thread about what my father smoked, as that what I have learned from. He's still alive, in case anyone he knows is on here.
Firstly pipes need to be from Peterson:

Peterson are now in Ireland, but my (English) dad will insist that they were a Danish company. My now deceased pipesmoking Danish grandfather would insist that they were Danish originally.
In the same way that they would insist that the tobacco brand McBaren was Danish.
So, lets kick off the League with some controversy!

Back to the serious topic in hand. There is a splendid traditional tobacconists not too far from me. Lots of big jars full of wonderous aromas. You can but small "taster bags" of tobacco for £1. I rather like the cherry one smoked in a clay pipe.
