    Talking My Living Room

I have discovered that I can Heat Treat in my living room

My imitation coal gas fire goes over 1000C at it's centre (tested with my thermocouple)

put a blade in it for stress relieving and it went to bright orange

Heat Treating in the comfort of my own living room

    not good for swords though

Oh I dunno, a little anvil, and maybe even a little power hammer like that cute table top model John N is showing pictures of in the big boys toys section.

Just trying to be helpful, you know.

    Re: My Living Room

funnily enough, the first few attmpts at heat treating my own blades as a kid were done using my parents' anthracite boiler I had a pot of motor oil sat on the rug in the living room and then a very unhappy mother when the room filled with smoke
