My Living Room
I have discovered that I can Heat Treat in my living room
My imitation coal gas fire goes over 1000C at it's centre (tested with my thermocouple)
put a blade in it for stress relieving and it went to bright orange
Heat Treating in the comfort of my own living room
not good for swords though

Just make sure you dont replace the coffee table with an anvil.

Oh I dunno, a little anvil, and maybe even a little power hammer like that cute table top model John N is showing pictures of in the big boys toys section.

funnily enough, the first few attmpts at heat treating my own blades as a kid were done using my parents' anthracite boiler
I had a pot of motor oil sat on the rug in the living room and then a very unhappy mother when the room filled with smoke :oops:
