    Family tent advice needed

Trying to get SWMBO to get more involved in quick weekends away. I have a lovely large palatial tent that we use for long trips and the wife likes that but its a pain to put up for a single overnight stay. What I'm after is a tent that will sleep 4, two adults and two kids. Ideally 3 to 4 season that can be put up in a jiffy. It will get most use at organised pitches but it should be suitable for wild camping as well.

I am considering a GoLite Shangri la 4+ but would need to import from the US. I can find no reviews of it or decent pictures. Any comments on this tent? or any suggested alternatives?

Its a well know fact, that I make up 98.4 % of all my statistics

I have an Outwell Hartford L. Its a 4 man double skin and it takes 2 of you around 20 mins to put up. About £200 from most places. I have been in really bad storms and its never leaked at all. Very happy with it.
    Many thanks,

Bought one of these last year, dead easy to assemble. Like it because it is big enough to stand up in and has 2 rooms,

Wild country Family Khamsin. Awesome. Light, quick to put up, weatherproof, comfy and space for the kids. Get one!

would two small tents be any good?

I've found smaller tents to ber a lot easier to put up, maybe more important is that they are easier to sort out if you have to dry them out once you get home. It may be better for wild camping.
Will you only be using it when you know the weather will be good?
    How old are the kids?
Do you need space to cook inside the tent?

searched that wild country tent and found

My main tent is a khyam tourer 400

suprisingly big (heavy so car camping), andf I can put it up on my own. Bit that takes the longest is pegging out, but that can be cut down if its short stays in good weather. Have tried it in heavy wind and rain and it was excellent. Main reason we went for it was ease of erection

Porblem with two small tents is that sites often shove an extra charge on.

I think wild country tents are great. I had a Trisar for 10 years and was thrilled with it, until a mouse chewed through the bag it was in. So I have considered two Trisars. I have also looked at the family Khamsin. I like them but they are a bit pricy. (great find Flibb thats the best price Ive seen them at)
    I have this

at the mo, Its a Wild country Halo 73, great tent but takes an age to get up. Great for a week lousy for a night.

So I need something big enough to accomodate us but easy to put up.
I will have to research the Golite more and then decide.

The Big horn 2 from Cabelas.

This tent is the bee's knee's, easy to put up, we have slept eight people in here, its built like a tank, masses of room and imo a whole lot better than a teepee.

And the best bit, heated for those cold evenings, you want to see the looks you get from other camper when they see smoke coming from your tent, and especially when your wiping sweat from your brow when they are searching for another jumper.

That looks great! Very comfy indeed.

How does the flap in the groundsheet secure when you're not using a stove?

Is it a zip or something else?

    Cheers.
