Buckeye & damascus utility
Here's a small, stout utility I made up yesterday.
The blade is 4mm thick 1095 & 15N20 ladder pattern, 300 layer from Mike Blue's forge.
OAL is just 6-3/4" with a 2-1/2" cutting edge. I've done it as a high sabre grind, with a fairy fine, 20 degree edge bevel.
The handle is some green Buckeye Burl & is held in place with one 6mm & one 8mm pin.

Re: Buckeye & damascus utility
Dunno really. It's kinda a proportions thing, as the handle gets wider towards the hilt, the bigger pin looks the same, dimensionally, as the smaller does, up near the blade end. Innit.
It's just something I like to play with, as a lot of folks don't seem to mess about with pin sizes much.

Re: Buckeye & damascus utility
Very nice little knife Rob, the burl compliments the damascus very well, the two pin's being different in size, suits the overall design very classy !
Thanks for showing

Re: Buckeye & damascus utility
well i have to admit rob it looks proportional.........top marks........
i was just wondering as i done the same to a knike i handled....
only i done it coz i arsed up the hole and had to enlarge it.......
but in my defence.... it was the first attempt ever by me........"I told him, 'Son, what is it with you??.... Is it ignorance or apathy?' He said, ' I don't know and I don't care.'"

Graceful little blade, and extremely well done to boot. Pins look fine to me; that was a good idea.
