How to show a picture in your post..
Thought I'd post this as it's an often asked question.
TO POST A PICTURE IN THE FORUMS, YOUR PICTURE MUST ALREADY BE ON THE INTERNET
this method ONLY works for pictures that are already on the internet. You either need to use a picture you've seen on the internet somewhere, or if it's your own picture, you need an account with a service provioder that will allow you to upload images onto the internet, something like photobucket.
First you need to get the web address of the picture you want to show up in your post. If the image is already on the web somewhere this is easy...
Highlight and copy the URL from the properties diagloge box, by right clicking on the source image to get the "actual" web address of the picture itself.

To make it show up in the forums, I need to tell the forum software that is what I want to happen. If I just type in the URL, it will just show as a link. So, I need to enclose the URL with some code that instructs the forum software to make it show up as a picture. This code is called an “image tag” - you put image tags at the beginning and end of the picture URL. The first tag is called an opening tag and the last tag is called a closing tag. They are slightly different in order to tell the forum software the beginning of the url from the end.
So, in the reply dialogue box type [img] this is the opening image tag, ...and select paste by right clicking into the box area...

Paste the image URL after the [img] tag, then immediately after the URL put another image tag, but this time with the closing backslash. This tealls the forum that the address for the image has come to an end...
The closing image tag looks like this... [/img]
It should look something like this....

Click on "preview to make sure it works, then click on submit.
NOTE: make sure it is one continuous line of text without breaks.
Just to prove it works, here is the picture....

Right click on the above and choose properties to see the image URL.
It's dead simple and it works on all forums powered by vBulletin software.

Re: How to show a picture in your post..
Hi Martyn,
What if the picture is not on the web but just a .jpeg image on my PC. I don't have a website to post pictures on and I tried to follow the method you outlined and it would not allow me to paste my photo. Please advise. Thanks.
LGF
Martyn,
Maybe I'm blind but I can't find the category "Upload photos" in the gallery as you show in your other thread. If I could find this feature, then I could post a photo but I must be doing something wrong. Can you help me? Thanks in advance.

Andy, you need to put the whole 'internet address' for it between the [IMG] and [/IMG] tags.
