This is a jewel of the museum!!A Panhard Levassor of 1910!!See the comand buttons at the back seat with instructions for the chauffeur, and the beautiful velour. The big headlights are made to work with calcium carbide(Like autogenous soldering guns)

Re: Birds,bugs etc,around us!!
A "gasogen" used during WW2 era for lack of fuel!!Those worked with vegetable coal made from wood.At our farm when I was a small boy we had two tractors working with gasogens and we made wood coal from the forest in the land!!

On this old picture of the early 40s a coal making pile which will later be covered with muddy earth and fired for a few days with coal resulting, and ready for the gasogen!!The kid at the left is me!!

Re: Birds,bugs etc,around us!!
Thanks Kevin!!
This is a small but interesting museum!!I was so pleased to see the really old and some rare ones like the Stutz, the Lago Talbot ,the Riley and in the restore area a Jaguar, the old Austin and the local formula car with more carburetters i could count!!A Ferrar,a Porshe,a huge RR of a gentleman who comes a month a year and leaves it at the museum the rest of the year...I just forgot to take pictures!!
Way back to my young years our father had a big car(Mercedes,Chrisler,Packrd,Ford,Chevolet and Fords,(One at the time!!)but allways a small second car(Austin 8,Austin A40,Standard Vanguard..)When he was going to the farm by plane he left the small one for our use(three sons) so we fought to take him to the airport, and all the following days to see who was using it!!Then later I bought a second hand HRG two seater, later a second hand Jaguar 1952 3.8 liter which I sold to buy a VW in 1962 ad got married!!(50 yeras ago!!)Since I had a Ford Escort 1600,then a Ford XR3 ,a MBenz S280 1983,and later an S300 in 1993 which I still have!!Old but faithfull. Also a Peugeot (my wife's)and at the farm a new Toyota 4wd(An old Land Rover 72 and recently sold a Mitsubishi PU truck 4WD.Learned to drive in a Ford A truck at 7 years old at the farm!!(No licence till 17!!)Got my flying licence before the driver's!!Father, brothers and one of my sons all pilots!!Crazy (a bit)Fuel must run in our blood!!We all love mechanical "thimgs"!!(Motorcycles, outboard recing boats, etc)
Regards!!

Re: Birds,bugs etc,around us!!
Albert you sound just as intrested as me
I love cars the w124 mercedes engine is the best production engine made.
I had the s300 1989 straight six engine that car ate motorways and gave me my record of 155mph still had more but it was 12 years old when I brought it from my father.
The last car a 230te was great too but haven't been able to drive since I had an accident .
I would love to learn to fly but here it's very expensive they estimate 50,000 british pounds + no chance then cool pictures m8 take care.

Re: Birds,bugs etc,around us!!
Thanks Kevin!!
Sorry to hear you have a problem driving since an accident!!
I just love the old 124!!The motor is untouched and I have it from the first day!!Mostly higway !!In town we use the smal Peugeot and before a Ford Festiva(Actually made in Korea!!)That one is in my grandaughter's hands to go to Medical Faculty...Some bumps on it!!
Learning to fly here used to be relatively cheap!!I think now it is not so cheap but much less than what you say!!You can get an old Piper or similar for that amount and get an instructor to teach you all included!!!
My grandfather(From Southampton) had 5 sons!!The youngest was my father!!In 1916 they built(the 5 sons) an airoplane from plans in "Popular Mechanics"Magazine!!When it was ready to fly(At the farm)and plans to test it next day....my grandfather got up very early, poures fuel on the "thing" ad burnt it!!Years later the two youngest sons(Father and uncle Hector)learned to fly and did so for the rest of their lives!!My two brothers and I learnt to fly very soon as age was allowed!!Joystick was allready something we knew when our instructors started teaching,so the 40 hours instruction was mosly on our own!!Years ago the countryside was not well covered in roads and higways,so flying was almost a need!!My eldest son has a small four seat Cessna,so even if I have not renewed my flying licence I still fly with him!!
As for the 300S we tested it in a part of the higway that we knew had no police control at 230KMH/About 143mph).It looked quite normal!!Only if you lookes sideways the side fences past very fast on the sides!!2 metric tons empty is a piece of a car!!Just love it!!
Regards!!
Albert
