Re: Birds,bugs etc,around us!!
Albert, I think you could get a picture of me all the way up in Canada if you pointed that camera north.
Here is a picture of a Dove that was building a nest in a wood pile beside my house. I was only about 2 feet away from her when I took this picture.

Re: Birds,bugs etc,around us!!
Thank you Cal!!First of all that is a very nice picture!!Doves are usually quite tame and dare get near, knowing that no harm is coming!!Maybe she nests there and you have a chance to see the small ones!!
Yes that is a long lens!!!For birding at long distance, and other uses!!Actually it zooms from 50 to 500mm!!Looks like a bazooka!!That support works great for it to make all movements smoothly!!Lots of birds at the farm, and near the seaside too!!
Again thanks for the nice picture!!Maybe more coming soon!!??
Regards!!

Re: Birds,bugs etc,around us!!
Wow, some amazing colours in the sky there Albert. It hardly looks real!
Here are some more cygnet pictures to follow Ian's contribution:

I had to crop a close up of this one, looks almost like a cheeky Disney character

There were some older and slightly more adventurous ones further down the river

The parents weren't too bothered about people, probably cause there are so many about, got pretty defensive when dogs were around though

Re: Birds,bugs etc,around us!!
Sorry for being off for a while.
CAL, that dove picture is really amazing!
How's nest building is going? Is she still working there?
Albert, those sunrise pictures are really amazing!
And blennycatcher, the chicks really make me smiling!
I've got something to post at last.
Firefly and Conandron. Both are early summer spices.
A centipede came into my house.
Pretends to be a twig.
Paper wasp nest. You can see their larvae and eggs in the detailed shot below
Also please note that eggs reside in newly built chambers.

Again some marvelous pictures Fujita!!!The firefly picture with its own illumination is very interesting, and the others are very detailed and clear!!That centiped and the paper wasp nest look very much like local ones here, not totally though!!The centiped looks quite big!!Last year I pictured one like it figting with a small snake!!Quite agressive!!
Thanks for the nice pictures!!

Love that sunrise Albert!
Here's one I took last year. It's a water snake playing dead to protect himself.

Re: Birds,bugs etc,around us!!
Thanks, Albert.
I've missed to see that snake v.s. centipede shots!
That is a one serious battle for survival!
That centipede was about 7cm long, "Scolopendra subspinipes japonica".
The largest one will be 10cm.
It is poisonous and sometimes bytes. (I was bitten three times last year
)
Kossminn, that snake is amazing, playing dead! We have no such snake

Re: Birds,bugs etc,around us!!
Thank you Fujita!!The Scolopendras look very much alike, even size!!Yours and ours,!!I must find out the name!!But it was like watching a miniature duel of a boa and a deer!!The snake was choking the scolopendra, and I unwillingly saved the milliped, ruining the snake's breakfast!!!
Best regards!!
