Gutted that I missed out at the start. Looking forward to seeing what people think of it.

“It darkles (tinct, tint) all this our funnanimal world.”
That filled up quick!
As Potato head started the original thread and wanted to be in on this, I have extended it to 11 people max.
I take it that Unca Tolin is Colin KC?
Final list looks like this, I have moved skippydm down a few places as requested:

If this passaround goes well I will do the same for one of the Golden Dragon models.
Cheers
Out of interest (I'm a little behind on my emitters!)... What's the difference (to the end user) between the Cree and the Golden Dragon models?
PM on its way with my details.
Cheers, Phil

The D20s arrived today after spending a week withcustoms.
I will get the passaround model sent out tomorrow.
Only had a quick play so far, but initial impressions are very good. A bit bigger and heavier than I had expected with a nice amount of spill.
Arrived
It's a beauty, now I need to watch the vid and learn to use the interface.
Appears to be very nicely made. Thanks for setting up the passaround.
Cheers, Phil

A quick review from me, I'll try and put some better thought out words together at a later date but at the moment I'm doing 13+ hours days on a computer so I'm struggling for spare time and when I have it, in front of a PC's not where I want to be...![]()
The torch was used daily on my 1 week trial every morning in the fields, home of my daily dog walk. It performed the task perfectly, power wise it was visually comparable to my Fenix P2D/L1D that I often carry for close range backed up with a mag85, now zdp Ultrafire for long range.
Likes
- The build quality is impressive. It looks wonderfully constructed, no short cuts or nasty looking bare alloy threads.
- It feels good in the hand, the button is tactile and easy to find.
- The output is impressive though no brighter than other torches of a similar size - to be honest they all have enough output for what I want in a small torch like this
- I like the way the torch can be used in momentary on/off like a forward clickie or full on/off or locked out for storage.
- The ability to vary the power output was impressive and the UI for doing it was pretty simple.
- Like the fact they haven't cluttered the clickie user interface with lots of power options. For example on a Fenix L1D if you switch it on, then off again, then on again quite quickly (which I tend to when wanting to spot things as I move) it will cycle to the next mode (strobe, or whatever it might be) - the Nitecore doesn't do this which is good
Dislikes
- Not a lot really. The piston drive although a really nice feature felt a little vague to me (in terms of on/off) when operating the torch in momentary on/off mode. I appreciate it's probably a very reliable switch mechanism though.
- Although the torch is variable power and the UI for changing it pretty good I don't think I'd bother with such a feature - too much twist this, do that twist this
Would be just as happy with High and Low, or the ability to vary power via separate buttons like the VB16 - ok it won't look so tacticool but then I'm not bothered about that.
I ran it on a set of rechargeables but didn't test runtime as I pop a fresh set in every couple of mornings.
Sorry no pictures, I didn't get the chance to use the torch outside of actually needing it for my 'chores'![]()
If I was still after a torch with multiple settings I'd pick one up for certain. I've now decided I'm really after a more simplistic torch (forward click, decent power, not arsed about lots of modes). So now knowing how good the Nitecore build quality is I'll be looking for one of the other Nitecore models that fits my criteria.
Finally thanks to Antony for sorting out the passaround.
Cheers, Phil
